Facebook + Thnks

Birthdays are meant for celebrating. For years, Facebook has continually made sure we never forget our friends’ big day with a short but very effective push notification that says something along the lines of “Felix Jones and 4 others have birthdays.”  Facebook has saved us time and time again when we have forgotten to wish someone a happy birthday. We can quickly open Facebook and send a personal note or post a public message to their wall. Whew, problem solved.

But what about when we get a birthday notification for someone who deserves a little more than a “like” or “post”… a key client, an old coworker or even your best friends birthday. Now, you have a problem and it’s too late to send them a gift! Or is it…

Thnks lets you send last minute, thoughtful, hand-selected gifts straight from Facebook to any of your contacts. From premium wine for your top clients to Starbucks coffee and cake pops for your friend/coworker, we’ve got you covered!

Here’s how it works:

1. “Like”  Thnks Birthdays

2. On the Thnks Birthdays page, click “Send Message”

3. Choose a gift from the carousel of suggested birthday gifts

4. Choose your recipient and send the gift!

Note: if it is your first time sending through Facebook, the chatbot will prompt you to log in before you can send your gift.

Our go-to birthday gift is A Birthday Bundle – two Cake Pops and an Iced Caffe Latte from Starbucks. It is the perfect gift to make someone’s birthday just a little bit sweeter!

If you have any questions about how the Birthday Bot works, don’t hesitate to reach out! We would love to hear from you.

Sending Thnks through Gmail

Our favorite product releases are the ones that our customers have suggested. Over the last few months, you’ve spoken and we’ve listened.

The bulk of our customers are business professionals who spend their day inside of Gmail – following up with potential customers, briefing their colleagues, closing deals, and everything in between. They love using Thnks but always have to navigate out of their inbox to send a gift that could have gone perfectly with that freshly signed contract they just sent out.

So, we built a Thnks Google Chrome Extension *insert cheers* to address this need. Now, you can send gifts directly from your Gmail inbox! Simply drag and drop your gift into the email.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Download the Thnks chrome extension here
  2. Click on the <t> icon in the top right of your chrome browser and login to your Thnks account (or create a new one)
  3. Click to compose a new email on gmail and type in your recipient’s email in the ‘To’ bar as you would normally (note: you can only send a Thnks gift to one recipient email at a time)
  4. Click on the <t> icon on the bottom bar of your email composer (if you do not see this you may need to refresh your browser)
  5. The Thnks categories should pop up on the right hand side- from there you can scroll through the categories or search to pick your gift
  6. Once you have selected your gift you can confirm your details and hit the ‘Purchase’ button- this will generate the gift straight in your email to send directly to your recipient
  7. Add your message before/after the gift in your email and send!

You can track whether your gift has been redeemed from My Gifts > Sent on your Thnks account.

If you have any questions about how the Thnks Chrome Extension works, don’t hesitate to reach out! We would love to hear from you.

Sending Thnks on Twitter

Thnks was built to help business professionals strengthen their relationships with thoughtful, instant gestures of appreciation. Similarly, Twitter was created to connect people all around the globe, especially those with common interests.

With over 330 million monthly active users globally and over 69 million of those being located in the US, Twitter has attracted business professionals in every industry to their platform.

We see them interacting with one another every day.

From retweeting their business idol’s advice…

To sharing photos of their recent travels…

To the occasional Twitter debate…

To sharing their exciting moments…

The list goes on.

Now imagine if…. instead of simply liking your client’s vacation photo, you could send them an Uber ride home from the airport?

Instead of just commenting on your colleague’s new baby with a congrats post, you could send them your favorite baby book too?

And for rest of us that use Twitter more than any other platform to communicate and stay connected, what better medium to receive a gift?

Thnks is making it as easy as possible to send gifts from anywhere, to anyone! Our new Twitter integration is a key step in making Thnks ubiquitous across all platforms you interact with other business professionals.

How does it work?

On the Thnks Web Platform or mobile app on iOS or Android:

  1. Select a gift
  2. Choose your contact – Click on the Twitter tab, connect your account, and then type in the Twitter contact you want to send a gift to (by name or Twitter handle)
  3. Write your message and send!

How do recipients receive and redeem their gift?

Your gift will be sent instantly to your recipient as a Twitter DM. It will appear with your message and the link to the gift you choose. Recipients can accept their gift straight from the link, or pass the gift value to charity if they prefer.

Key Use Cases

Use Twitter as a contextual tool to give you ideas of what to send! Ex: Did they tweet about having a busy schedule, a book they want to read, a recent life update, their favorite sports teams?

Uber Ride

“I saw you were visiting NYC and the city is due for some rough weather….hope this helps get you around, and enjoy your time in the Big Apple!

Starbucks Week of Coffee

“Congrats on your promotion! Sad to see you leave NYC, but can’t wait to watch you kill it in LA! Here’s a week of coffee to keep you fueled for the move.”

Fanchest Gear

“Amazing upset of the Aggies. Go Buckeyes! Fan gear to celebrate the big win!”

Try it out and let us know what you think!
