How Thnks Was Built on Strong Business Relationships

As we approach “gratitude season,” I wanted to share a personal story that highlights the heart of Thnks and our mission of fostering strong and impactful business relationships through gratitude. My journey with Thnks isn’t just about a job or career; it’s living proof of the power of connection and appreciation in the business world.

Let’s take a trip down memory lane. I first met our CEO Brendan Kamm when I hired him at Initiative shortly after he graduated from Johns Hopkins University. From the start, we knew our partnership was built to last. We shared a deep passion for learning and a relentless competitive spirit that made us a perfect team. And, of course, we had a knack for office pranks—something I discovered the hard way when I returned from a two-week honeymoon to find my office completely transformed!

Needless to say, we built a foundation centered around mutual appreciation and respect that I knew would leave a lasting impression on me, even when our paths eventually diverged . . . and after I cleaned up the aluminum foil, of course.

And life did take us in different directions several years later. But despite our career paths going separate ways, the bond we created would play a significant role in my professional journey in the coming years.

Reconnection and New Opportunities

Fast forward to 2022. While Brendan and I stayed connected through the years, it was a conversation we had in October 2022 that sparked this new chapter in my life. He happened to share with me that he was working on a job description for a role that he felt would be a good fit for me. It didn’t take long for me to get excited about the opportunity, and after some careful consideration, my family quickly shared my enthusiasm for the move out of the NYC area to Tennessee.

At that point, I made the decision to join Thnks as the SVP of Customer Experience. I knew that I loved working with Brendan in the past so this was more than just a career move to me. It was also a chance to expand our working relationship and create together once again as he worked to build Thnks. And the rest is history.

Thnks’ Mission in Action

What I love about this story is how it reflects the very essence of Thnks. It demonstrates the power of meaningful business relationships built on a foundation of appreciation and gratitude. And that strong relationships are key to any business-building strategy.

My story is only one example of this. Every day at Thnks, I see these principles in action. It’s become so clear to me that when colleagues and peers take the time to cultivate these connections and show their appreciation for one another, they create a culture of support and gratitude that empowers everyone to thrive.

So, whether you’re just starting your career or are a seasoned leader, remember the power of nurturing resilient and impactful business relationships through gratitude. Because building strong relationships isn’t just good for you, it’s good for business.
